Vocabulary Pixels & Resolution


1st- Photoshop Pixels and Resolution- YOU NEED TO KNOW!!

image quality  dependent on Resolution & Aspect Ratio  
Resolution  amount of detail (or data) stored for an image  
PPI  pixels per inch  
Monitors  are low resolution devices, most display 72 PPI  
DPI  Dots Per Inch  
Aspect Ratio  relationship of an object’s width to its height  
pixelation  each pixel in the image must cover a larger space on the screen (blurry ~ distorted)  
Vector graphics  created from mathematical formulas used to define lines, shapes and curves.

Raster Graphics  Consist of grids of tiny dots called pixels  
Common Raster Formats  GIF//JPEG//BMP//PNG//TIFF  
Compression  how an image is saved in order to reduce the file size  
YOU WILL NEED A SAFE SPOT TO KEEP ALL YOUR PASSWORDS FOR THIS CLASS FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR!!COPY  THIS AGENDA-  It is a course/school requirement and will count 5% of your semester grade!
